No thought, no action, no movement, total stillness: only thus can one manifest the true nature and

law of things from within and unconsciously, and at last become one with heaven and earth.

It is Lao Tzu, regarded as the father of Taoism, talking about finding understanding and

enlightenment through inaction. The way I understand it, Rather than charging forward with a

definite goal, his premise was that the greatest things could be achieved by being silent, clearing

the mind and becoming aware of self and the world around you. Basically promoting meditation.

The eastern religions inspired both by Siddhartha, and Tao Te Chin were pacifists that believed in

separating yourself from the world. Siddhartha Gautama, or the Buddha and the original strain of

Buddhism believed that you must rid yourself of all desire to truly cleave to GOD. Taoism was

closely similar to paganism in that He believed in connecting with the earth. One of my favorite

Taoist quotes is [One who walks with shoes on his feet lives in a world covered in shoe leather].

Both Sages where awe inspiring but thought that you must separate yourself from society and

commune with GOD and nature. I am more inclined to believe that to know GOD then you must

know all that GOD has created. What better way to understand an author but to read all of his

books. Even Siddhartha quotes on his death bed to his best friend and life long disciple [All things

organic decay, work out your own salvation with diligence.] All things said though there really is no

substitute for deep meditation to ensure that you are on the right path. GOD Bless and pleasant

journey.
